KALAMA AND MATSUMOTO JOIN
FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK'S SENIOR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE;
ARIZUMI, MAYNARD AND MOW PROMOTED TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
(Honolulu, Hawaii, December 17, 2007) - First Hawaiian Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Don Horner today announced the appointment of Corbett Kalama and Iris Matsumoto to the bank's Senior Management Committee and the promotions of three long-time bank officers to executive vice president.
Corbett Kalama, executive vice president and Oahu region supervisor, joined the bank in 1982 as a management trainee and has held progressive management positions throughout the bank. He is a graduate of Kailua High School, has a bachelor's degree in economics from Oregon College, and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School. Active in the community, he serves as a trustee of Kamehameha Schools. He is also on the boards of Friends of Hawaii Charities, the Polynesian Voyaging Society and Hawaii Institute of Public Affairs.
Iris Y. Matsumoto, senior vice president, Human Resources Division, joined First Hawaiian in 1998. She has over 20 years of human resources experience and previously worked for Maui Land and Pineapple Co., C. Brewer & Co. and Hawaiian Airlines. Born in Hilo, she is a graduate of Hilo High School and has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and serves on the boards of HUGS and the Honolulu Community Action Program.
Alan H. Arizumi has been promoted from senior vice president and manager to executive vice president and manager, Corporate Banking Division. Arizumi began his banking career with First Hawaiian, joining the bank in 1983 as a management trainee. He is a graduate of McKinley High School, has a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Hawaii, and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School. He serves on the boards of KCAA Preschools and McKinley High School Foundation.
Kristi L. Maynard has been promoted from senior vice president and manager to executive vice president and manager, Treasury and Investment Division. Maynard also serves at the bank's treasurer. She joined First Hawaiian Bank in 1984 as an investment assistant, was promoted six months later to investment officer and to assistant vice president a year later. She has a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of South Dakota, has an MBA from the University of Washington and is an honors graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School.
Melvin W. Y. Mow has been promoted from senior vice president and chief credit officer to executive vice president and chief credit officer. He joined First Hawaiian Bank in 1972 as a management trainee. After holding several progressive management positions within the branch system, he was named branch manager of the Kapiolani Branch. He also served as business banking officer at Main Branch. He transferred to the Credit Administration Division in 1999 and was promoted to deputy manager in 2005. He is a graduate of Punahou School, the University of Redlands and the Pacific Coast Banking School.
