  Patricia L. Berry
CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, LTCP

Pat Berry has been in the financial services industry for over 18 years. She is licensed in life, health, and property and casualty lines of insurance. In addition, she holds her Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations. Also, Pat is a Long-Term Care Professional (LTCP).

Pat is a past-president of the West Hawaii Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). She has served as moderator of Life Underwriters Training Council courses and holds her LUTCF designation. She earned her Bachelors degree in accounting and a Masters in political science from West Texas State University.

Pat loves working in financial services and helping her clients achieve their financial goals. She is committed to listening to her clients and developing sound solutions that fit their needs and budget.

Pat is active in community organizations and enjoys spending time swimming, participating in the Kings Swim and Cinco de Mayo swimming events. She has worked with the Kona Outdoor Circle, The Rotary Club of Kona, Kai Opua Canoe Club, Toastmasters International and Mokuaikaua Church.

Pat and husband, Ray, have been married over 40 years. Before coming to Kona in the ’90s, they worked together in their own independent insurance agency in Amarillo, Texas. They have three grown children now living in Texas and seven grandchildren.

  Marc Miyama

Marc Miyama brings over 10 years of insurance experience to First Hawaiian Bank.

In 1996, he graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelors Degree in Economics. He is currently a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).

Marc began his insurance career at Occidental Underwriters of Hawaii. During his tenure as a life insurance agent, he oversaw the life underwriting department and was the lead agency trainer. Here he gained a firm understanding of the life insurance underwriting process, policy designs, and claims servicing.

Marc’s approach is simple. “I get to know my customers and listen to them. If I don’t, I’ll be doing them a disservice because if something is done incorrectly due to miscommunication, I’ve failed.”

Born and raised in Pearl City, Marc still resides there today. When he’s not spending time with his family and friends, he finds himself trying to develop new ways to simplify understanding of life insurance concepts in order to better serve his customers.

  Donn Natori
CLU, ChFC, RHU

Donn Natori brings over 18 yrs of insurance experience to First Hawaiian Bank.

He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and the Society of Financial Services Professionals.

Donn has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), and Master in International Management (from the American Graduate School of International Management, Glendale AZ).

When he is not working, you will find Donn on the soccer field watching or coaching his 2 children.

Donn’s philosophy is to “assist my clients to achieve their financial goals”. “It is important for my client to understand the role insurance plays in their financial plan. How insurance is used to protect them against events they cannot plan against.”

Shigemi Okada

岡田重美

Shigemi Okada began her career 20 years ago as an Information Technology professional at Pacific Guardian Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Meiji Seimei/Mutual Life. She then interned for a year at Meiji’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan; learning not only the skills needed for an IT professional but also the importance of customer service.

Over the years, Shigemi has sharpened her skills in the client advisory services environment and enjoys being the “bridge between the east and west” to serve international and Island clients with insurance needs.

Licensed in Life and Health, she approaches her customers’ needs with a concierge perspective. “I am their personal advisor, but I am backed by the strength of a fully staffed team of professionals that can be called upon in a moments notice.”

When not busy servicing her clients, Shigemi enjoys spending time with her family.

  Linda B. Sato
LUTCF, LTCP

Linda Sato brings to First Hawaiian Bank 13 years of insurance and estate planning experience. Linda has a Life Underwriter’s Training Council Fellowship (LUTCF) designation which is conferred by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and a Long-Term Care Professional (LTCP) designation.

Linda was named Chairperson of the Year for the West Honolulu Association of Life Underwriters Association in 1998 and 1999 and is a student of the Society of Financial Services Professionals, working towards the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation. She is a past-president and current member of the Honolulu Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors as well as the Society of Financial Service Providers. As former Community Service Chair for the Honolulu Association, Linda was awarded the National Association of Life Underwriters Community Service Award in 1996, 1997 and 1998.

“We are here to take care of people,” says Linda whose genuine interest in customer satisfaction can be clearly recognized. Linda’s approach involves helping clients reach their financial and estate planning goals, which can include preservation of their estate. “It is very important for customers to know their full financial picture and to understand that insurance is one of the tools that can provide ready cash in the event of death, disability or long term care.”

Linda, who is a native of Canada, has lived in Hawaii since 1988. Her favorite pastimes include walking, dancing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

  Anthony "Tony" Sholing

Anthony “Tony” Sholing brings over 20 years of customer service experience to First Hawaiian Bank. For 3 years, Tony helped his clients realize the importance of life insurance while working for the Allstate Insurance Company.

He now joins First Hawaiian as a Financial Services Consultant to help you achieve your financial goals with a customized plan to fit your needs.

Prior to joining FHB, Tony also owned a 7-Eleven franchise for 10 years. Mr. Sholing’s business approach is to always seek “what is best for my customer”.

  Lloyd N. Sugano
LTCP

Lloyd Sugano began his insurance career 25 years ago as a field claims adjuster dealing with bodily injury and property damage claims. Several years later, he obtained his General Agent license for all lines of insurance and formed two General Agencies. He was also the Executive Vice President of agency sales at Hawaii Insurance Consultants and an Investment Advisor at American Express Financial Advisors before joining First Hawaiian Bank.

Lloyd is currently a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and has earned his Long-Term Care Professional (LTCP) designation. He graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing.

For many years, Lloyd has been playing softball and coaching baseball for the eastside community leagues. He enjoys spending his weekends watching his daughters play soccer and attending their swimming events.

Lloyd’s philosophy about working with his clients is premised upon honesty and placing the customer’s interests above all others. Lloyd says, “When you manage your business on this principal, everything else tends to fall in place.”

Larry Tavares brings to First Hawaiian Bank over 18 years of experience in insurance, and business and estate planning. Prior to joining First Hawaiian Bank, he spent most of his career as an independent broker representing a wide variety of insurance companies.

Larry holds life, health, property and casualty licenses, and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). He has earned his Long-Term Care Professional (LTCP) designation and is working toward the Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) designation.

When he is not working, Larry enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as playing softball and golfing. His business attitude towards his clients is to not only assist them in their financial goals, but “…to also establish long-term relationships that will be passed on to future generations. I found that being an advocate for life really helps.”

  Michael G. Taylor
CLU, ChFC, LTCP

As general manager of Private Advisory Services, Mike Taylor works with a dedicated group of professionals who operate with a philosophy of “providing solutions that are in the best interest of our customers’ needs.”

He spent 27 years with Manufacturers Life Insurance Company where he served as Manager of the Hawaii office for 17 years before coming to First Hawaiian Bank. Mike holds his life and health insurance licenses. He earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations from the American College of Life Underwriters and has earned his Long-Term Care Professional (LTCP) designation.

Mike is a past-president and a current member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) both on a local and state level as well as the Society of Financial Services Professionals and the Hawaii Estate Planning Council. He is also a member of the Advanced Association of Life Underwriters. His peers voted and recognized him as the life insurance professional of the year in 1990.

Mike’s approach is simple. “The needs of my client always come first. Marvin Yee brings to First Hawaiian Bank over 16 years of experience in insurance and Worksite products. Prior to joining First Hawaiian Bank, he spent most of his career as an independent agent for a number of insurance companies.

Marvin holds both life and health insurance licenses. He graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.

Marvin loves working in the Worksite Marketplace. He is committed to helping as many Hawaii employers communicate the true value of their benefits to their employees. Employers will be empowered with benefit communication capabilities that demonstrate their investment in each employee. This could facilitate improving employee morale, retention and productivity. In addition, he specializes in working with employers to coordinate their group insurance and Section 125 Cafeteria Plans. Marvin’s philosophy is to help companies get the best return on their benefit investment.

When he is not working, Marvin enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as playing golf.
